“If you try to do everything at once, you will likely accomplish nothing at all.” – I tell this to my teams to get them to understand that we must focus our limited resources to the area of greatest need. We identify the areas of greatest need by measuring key performance indicators (KPI’s) throughout the process at predetermined zones of control.
We can use the Lean Daily Management System to identify problems based on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost and then further drill down into those metrics to find the opportunities to form teams and solve our prioritized problems at the point of occurrence. This method is proven to drive visibility to problems and allow teams to focus on solving the biggest recurring problems they face on a daily basis.
